Getting started

  1. Open a student's essay in Google Docs.
  2. Click the "Grade with Rubricly" button at the bottom right of the doc. It opens the side panel.
  3. Sign in with Google once, pick a rubric, and click Grade current document.
  4. Read the feedback, change anything you want, and copy it into your comments. You always make the final call.

Common questions

I don't see the "Grade with Rubricly" button.
Make sure you're on an open Google Doc (a docs.google.com/document page), then refresh the doc. If you just installed or updated the extension, reload the doc tab so the button appears. Pinning Rubricly from Chrome's puzzle-piece menu also gives you one-click access from the toolbar.
Do I have to copy and paste the essay?
No. Rubricly reads the Google Doc you have open for you. Just have the essay on screen and click grade.
Signing in isn't working.
When you click grade the first time, Google shows a sign-in popup, approve it and make sure you're using the same Google account your docs are under. If the popup was blocked or dismissed, click grade again to bring it back.
What's free, and what's Pro?
The free plan includes 12 gradings a month, enough to try it on a real class. Rubricly Pro is $12 a month, or $99 a year, and adds unlimited grading plus custom rubrics you build, save, and sync across devices.
How do I cancel?
Cancel anytime in one click. Open the side panel, click Manage subscription, and cancel there. No hoops, no emails required.
How do referrals work?
Every user gets a referral code in the side panel. When a colleague enters your code, you both get 15 bonus gradings. Share it with any teacher who might find Rubricly useful.
What happens to my students' essays?
An essay is read only when you click grade, sent to generate the feedback, and never stored on our servers or used to train any AI. See our privacy policy for the full details.
Which subjects does Rubricly fit?
It's built for English and ELA writing first. Custom rubrics on Pro let you adapt it to any assignment with its own criteria and point values.
